NITRO RC TRUCKS AND CARS

EXTREME RC MOTORSPORTS primarily focuses on nitro rc trucks and cars - sometimes referred to as "gas rc cars and trucks".  That term is not totally accurate, since r/c nitro trucks and cars  do not actually use gas (gasoline) as a fuel.   Click here to read more about gasoline powered rc cars.   Like a full size gasoline powered passenger car or truck, r/c nitro trucks and cars also burn a combustible liquid fuel.  This fuel, which is commonly referred to as "nitro fuel", contains a blend of: nitromethane (nitro), methanol, and oil.  In general, a fuel made for nitro rc trucks & cars that contains more nitromethane, will result in more power and faster rc cars.  It must be noted that this is an area where more is not always better... too much nitromethane can mess with engine tune and result in less power.  Even worse, too much nitro could ruin an engine, and that won't make your nitro rc trucks or cars any faster!  The rest of the fuel is made up of methanol (an alcohol), and oil (typically a synthetic/castor oil blend or 100% synthetic).  Generally speaking, it is probably best for most people to follow the nitro rc trucks manufacturer's recommendation for fuel.  Just remember, when it comes to fuels for r/c nitro trucks and cars, more (nitro) is not always better!

Just like in the full size automotive world with V-8 engines, r/c nitro trucks and cars can have "small block" or "big block" engines.  Generally speaking, nitro rc trucks and cars with small block engines have a displacement of .15 cubic inches or less.  R/C nitro trucks and cars with big block engines typically have a .21 cubic inch displacement engine.  When you think about the displacement of engines for nitro rc cars, you realize that they are EXTREMELY small compared to a full size automotive engine.  Nitro rc trucks and rc cars with a big block .21 nitro engine will typically have around 2 HP coming from that .21 cubic inches of engine displacement.  For comparison purposes, a old full size Chevy car with a big block V8 might have had a 454 cubic inch engine from the factory that put out around 375HP in stock form.  375HP is a lot of power and anyone that has ever been in a old car with a big block engine knows that it can really move!

Now here's where it gets really interesting... if that Chevy with big block 454 V8 engine put out as much power per engine displacement as a nitro engine found in typical big block powered nitro rc trucks and rc cars, then that bone stock Chevy 454 engine would be producing OVER 4000 HP!!

You get the picture... these nitro rc trucks and rc cars have engines that are incredibly powerful and efficient for their size!  BIG POWER.  BIG THRILLS.  AMAZING RPM's... it's not uncommon for nitro engines to spin at over 40,000 RPM in completely stock form!  Compare that to a stock big block V8 engine that starts running out of breath at 6000 RPM.  These big block engines in r/c nitro trucks and cars really scream!

Wait until you see how exciting some of these nitro rc trucks and rc cars can be....
