This is the Motor Saver Air Filter Adapter Kit (MSBS1516 aka Base Kit). This kit contains 3 elbows which can be used to adapt the Motor Saver air filter to a variety of different carburetors. In our opinion (and the opinion of others), the 3 stage Motor Saver Air Filter is probably the best RC air filter available in terms of flow and performance potential - as well as engine protection.

REMINDER: The HPI Savage Air Filter HPI72438 is a Motor Saver filter (made by MS) and works great with these adapters.

This kit contains the following adapter elbows:

1) The first 90 degree elbow is intended for use on 16mm OD carbs such as on the Ofna Picco 26 Outlaw and the Team Orion Wasp 26 engines.

2) The 60 degree elbow with long legs is specifically designed for use with the 15mm OD carb on the HPI Savage 21 & 25 truck. This excellent adapter moves the position of the Motor Saver filter to between the roll bar/handle. This is a great position for the filter (probably the best), because the filter is surrounded by and protected by the roll bar. This helps prevent the filter from being knocked off or moved into the running spur gear during crashes. PLEASE NOTE: This adapter was specifically designed for the 15mm OD HPI Savage 21BB and S-25 engines. The adapter has a special retaining ring molded inside which interlocks with a unique groove in the outside of the 21BB and S-25 carbs. This unique groove is not common to most other carbs. BEWARE: THIS PARTICULAR ADAPTER WAS NOT INTENDED FOR OTHER CARBS AND MAY NOT FIT THEM PROPERLY & SECURELY.

3) The third adapter is a 60 degree elbow which is designed to work with T-MAXX 2.5 carbs and some other 1/8th scale engine carbs.

RECOMMENDATION: These adapters are designed to fit tight and secure. This is purposely done to help ensure that the air filter stays on securely and does not come off allowing destructive contaminants to enter the engine. Because of the tight fit (especially on some carbs like the Picco 26 engines), it is recommended that you make sure the elbow is warm (flexible) when trying to install it on the carb. In addition, a little bit of nitro fuel can be used to wet and lubricate the adapter end when trying to push it onto the carb. These adapters are flexible and will stretch quite a bit.

REMEMBER: Do not forget to use a zip tie to secure the adapter to the Motor Saver filter element as well as the carburetor.
